Program and services

CEDAC’s program activities and services are closely interrelated and are classified as follows:

1.AGRICULTURE AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (ASDP)
The main services and activities of ASDP are:

1.1. Field Program (Direct support to the community)
  • Farmer led research extension
  • Building the capacity of the producer organization and networks, as well as linking them to market
  • Building the capacity of the community-based saving groups and networks
  • Building the capacity of the water user community
  • Improving the living conditions and social status of marginalized, vulnerable and under-represented social groups
  • Contributing to the development of democratic local governance
1.2.Research
  • Conducting project feasibility and project evaluation studies
  • Agriculture and socio-economic research
  • Action research to develop innovations
1.3.Publications
  • Monthly farmer magazine (Kaseokor)
  • Booklets for farmers and extension workers
  • Training, learning and extension tools/aids
2.AGRI-BASED ENTERPRISES SUPPORT PROGRAM (AESP)

The AESP’s focus is on investing, providing capacity building and management support to enterprises, whose aim is to ensure producers get fairer prices for their products. The enterprises that receive support also try to make sure consumers have access to safe high quality food and agriculture products; as well as generate income to finance development and conservation activities.
The key enterprises owned and managed by CEDAC are:
  • Natural Agri-Product shop, NAP (mostly organic rice, vegetable, fruits and chicken)
  • Country Bird Restaurant (organic restaurant)
  • Agriculture input, tools and implements markets
  • CEDAC Credit Cooperative (CCC), specializing in providing credit to support agri-based enterprise development
We also support community businesses such as:
  • Farmer’s market (direct trade between producers and consumers)
  • Community shop
  • Chicken/pig slaughterhouses
In addition, we are conducting feasibility studies to set up natural feed, natural fertilizer and food processing enterprises.

3.CEDAC INSTITUTE OF LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

The program of the Institute will focus mainly on enabling people to qualify as Agri-entrepreneurs, Commercial Oriented Farmers, Community Leaders, Farmer Organization Leaders, Rural Development Professionals and Local Development Planners. The institute will also manage a bookshop specializing in marketing agriculture, environment and rural development publications.
