CEDAC's Development Program activities and services are closely interrelated. They are classified as follows:
Core programs: CEDAC has three core programs.
1. CEDAC Field Program: (Direct support to the community)
Our field program focuses on capacity building, leadership and management support to small farmers. It includes:
- Farmer to Farmer Extension
- Saving groups and networks (Saving for Self-Reliance)
- Producer organizations
- Cooperative Business Organization
- Community Development/Local Development Association
- Farmer Water User Communities
2.Community Business Support Program (CBSP)
The main focus of CBSP is to strengthen the capacity and ownership of producers in accessing products and input supplies markets. The key activities and services of CBSP are:
- Assist producers supported by CEDAC's field program and other development projects in forming groups, cooperatives and associations, including registration with local governments and provincial departments of agriculture.
- Provide capacity building and management support to producer organizations
- Facilitate the link between producer organizations and traders and other market actors, especially with Sahakreas CEDAC (SKC).
- Assist producer organizations in accessing credit services from credit institutions.
- Conduct action research and training on participatory value chains.
- Provide up-to-date market information to producer groups.
Currently, CBSP is supporting organic rice producer organizations, cooperative rice grain storage and mills, animal feed processing cooperatives, vegetable producer groups and community shops.
3.CEDAC Institute for Local Development (CILD):
CILD is mainly focusing on Building the capacity of rural youth to work for farmer organizations and community business. Professional training of rural youth is as follows:
- Target groups: Rural High school graduates, children of poor families
- Career of trainees: Farm managers, managers of farmer organizations, saving group animators, community business and community development facilitators.
- One-year intensive training and one-year follow-up training
- Training linked with actual field work, one to two weeks training and two to three weeks in the field and home work assignment.
