CEDAC Organizes its Third Core Staff Meeting for 2011
On November 15, 2011, CEDAC organized a meeting with its core staff at the Cambodian Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) in Phnom Penh. CEDAC opens a new shop in Takhamao city, Kandal Province
A new CEDAC shop branch in Takhmao city, Kandal province officially celebrated an inauguration ceremony on November 22, 2011. The shop is located at # 379, Street 206, Sangkat Takhmao, Kandal province. It is the 13th CEDAC Shop, after eleven shops opened in Phnom Penh city and one shop in Kratie province. The new shop’s owner, Mr. Bamnang said, “I could see the high demand for organic products amongst Takhmao city residents as well as Cambodian people as they always suggest to have a CEDAC shop opened nearby here.”. CEDAC Participated in the 3rd Regional Working Group Workshop
The third meeting of the Mekong Region Futures Working Group was organized on November 14-15, 2011, at Sheraton Hanoi Hotel in Viet Nam. The Mekong Futures Working Group met first in March 2011 and consists of approximately 25 people from government, private sector, and academic and civil society backgrounds. CEDAC Exports Organic Rice to the US
In early November 2011, CEDAC exported 39 tons of organic rice to the US. This is the fourth shipment to the US, CEDAC’s first shipment was in late 2010. The buyer of this rice is Lotus Foods in California, a small company engaged in selling specialty rice and supports efforts to promote SRI rice. Read more...


EMERGENCY AFTER FLOOD WATERS
PREY VENG PROVINCE: On October 28, 2011, CEDAC’s project titled “Improving food security of the most vulnerable families in Prey Veng,” with funding support from the European Union (EU), provided emergency response efforts after the after flooding in that area by providing rice seeds to the farmers to prepare nine community rice seed beds in nine villages, five communes and three districts including Kampong Trobek , Preah Sdach and Baphnom. CEDAC Continues Its Success in Promoting Bio-digester Construction in Rural Provinces
In the framework of the National Bio-digester Program (NBP), CEDAC is responsible for promoting the use of bio-digesters in four provinces, namely Kampot, Prey Veng, Kandal and Kampong Thom. Since the start in October 2007 up to the present, the numbers of monthly constructed bio-digesters have been increasing every year. For instance, the monthly constructed bio-digester in 2008 was approximately 50 and increased to 100 per month in 2008, and to around 200 per month in 2011. Read more...

CEDAC Recruiting Seven Indigenous Youths for One-year Apprenticeship Course
Ratanakiri: CEDAC is implementing another one-year apprenticeship course in seven villages across three communes of Lumphat District in Ratanakiri Province. In early August, CEDAC organized Village General Meetings to recruit indigenous youths who are interested in becoming trainees of this course. Monthly Meeting of Monitoring and Evaluation Team of CEDAC Field Program
On 15 June 2011, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Team of CEDAC Field Program organized its monthly meeting at CEDAC’s head office, Phnom Penh. SVAY RIENG: On May 31, 2011, CEDAC organized a training session on chicken raising techniques for 91 chicken producers (28 of whom were women) at the Prey Koki commune meeting hall in Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province. KAMPONG THOM: From May 26-27, 2011, the first general assembly of Farmer and Water Network (FWN) was convened at the farmer-water user community (FWUC) office of the Stung Chinit irrigation scheme in Kampong Thmar district, Kampong Thom province.
